R22 Phase Out Project

A phased 5 year plan to eliminate the use R22 refrigerant, across 12 sites spread over 3 states.  Required when R22 production was ceased and prices rose sharply.  After gathering key data from sites and engaging with the refrigeration service provider, a strategy that minimised the risk of unplanned outages, supported by planned capital investment was implemented. 

Strategy encompassed a variety of strategies:
 - Pre-emptive upgrade to ammonia based systems, at the highest risk sites
 - Planned upgrades to other refrigerants when R22 plant reached the end of useful life, where the risk could be managed
 - Run to fail on low cost installations eg air conditioning units, where the risk was negligible.

Successfully delivered strategy on time, to budget, to scope and importantly, without any unplanned loss of R22 to the environment.
